A Guild of Handicraft silver and agate porringer and spoon
A Guild of Handicraft silver porringer and spoon designed by Charles Ashbee. Both pieces are set with bright orange matching agates. The porringer is unusual for the large rectangular stone used and the punch mark decoration to the rim. This is one of the nicest porringers with spoon I have seen and together they have that jewel like quality that the Guild accomplished in their best work. The porringer is dated 1900 and the spoon 1901 but I have no doubt these were sold together. The porringer is nicely engraved “RJG, Sept 1901”.
