A large German art nouveau plique a jour pendant

Price: £1,250

For sale is this rare and striking large silver and plique a jour enamel pendant in the jugendstil or art nouveau style, dating to c 1905-10.   It is beautifully augmented with three opals and what I assume to be an oval cabochon garnet, with a pearl drop.  Unlike some of the more commercial Pforzheim plique a jour jewellery, this is a handmade piece with visible (under magnification) cutting and piercing marks.

The pendant is marked E.L for Eduard Loss, a Stuttgart jeweller.

The pendant presents in excellent original condition.  It had at some time been converted to a brooch and the removal of this fitting can be discerned from the back of the pendant only (see images). There is no chain, though I can readily provide one if required.
