A Liberty Cymric silver and enamel buckle

Price: Sold

For sale is this very good arts and crafts Liberty silver and enamel buckle, Birmingham 1911. Probably an Oliver Baker design. It is in unusually excellent original condition, still retaining its counter enamels.

I always have a fondness for this design.  The very first piece of arts and craft silver I ever purchased was one half of this buckle, converted to a brooch, acquired unwittingly on ebay for an exorbitant price. I rushed excitedly to Sonya at Tadema Gallery to show her my great Archibald Knox find, only to be let down gently. Thankfully it was the start of  this great passion, and on that basis, one of the best mistakes I have ever made.
