A near pair of small silver Liberty & Co vases inset with fire opals

A near pair of silver and fire opal vases by Liberty & Co and designed by Bernard Cuzner. Both dated Birmingham 1901, one inset with orange fire opal, the other with more pink/blue opals. A larger version of the same design can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum, silver gallery ref M.305-1975.

Bernard Cuzner was Head of Metalwork the Birmingham School of Art from 1910 –1942 and is well known as one of Liberty’s other leading silver designers after Archibald Knox.
