A pair of Liberty silver sugar casters
Price: Sold
A rare pair of large and small silver sugar casters by Liberty & Co. I believe these are previously unknown other than by their Liberty sketch book design. I have long wondered about them as they are quite different from other Liberty silver of the period. They are exceptionally well made and a good gauge of silver. I think they are probably Bernard Cuzner pieces that he himself worked on. In the Liberty Sketch Book they are model 50258, page 483 and the design references “l/s” which I am sure is “large and small” as seen with this pair. See images for the Sketch Book entry.
Both casters have a stylized floral leaf design in repousse to body and lid. The lids are cleverly designed with catches that slot into grooves on the base. All pieces are correctly marked. Condition is excellent.
