A rare boxed set of six “Adela” Cymric silver and enamel teaspoons for Liberty
A boxed set of six Cymric spoons for Liberty. These are a variant on model number 335 (no enamel) in the Liberty Silver Sketch Book. These spoons are exceptionally rare and previously known only by their sketch and publication in Liberty catalogues. See Simon Moore’s “Artists spoons and related table cutlery” pages 60 and 70.
I am certain this is an original set though two spoons are dated 1902, one 1903 and three 1904. Five carry Liberty’s rare quatrefoil mark, one is marked for W.H.H. They are in their original Liberty box.
This set is in remarkable, excellent original condition, and the spoons have especially good range of coloured enamel finials. The box itself and silk are also in excellent condition, with the cover stained dark to hide old stain patches.
