A stunning Archibald Knox Cymric silver and enamelled vase
Price: Sold
For sale is this stunning silver vase, model 2025, by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co’s Cymric range. This is one of my favourite Knox designs, strikingly modern and beautiful. The vase is embossed with a classic geometric Celtic design highlighted with classic blue green Liberty enamels, tending to purple towards the base. The top of the vase with a contrasting play of yellow, green and orange enamels. The base of the vase shows a similar geometric Celtic design with three inset blue green enamels.
I have tried to make the colour images as close a representation to the vase as possible – the photos are photoshopped only to create a realistic impression of how vivid the enamels are.
This model appears in Dr Stephen Martin’s book “Archibald Knox”, second edition, page 184, model 2025.
Both silver and enamels are in excellent original condition with a very small area of what looks like original firing damage to the bottom of one of the purple blue enamel panels – see images.
A similar example recently sold at Sotheby’s New York with further details provided by Dr Steven Martin who helped catalogue the sale. Click link to view.
