Small Austrian silver, gold, diamond and mother of pearl box
Price range: Sold
A delightful small mother of pearl box with a stunning lid. The lid is mother of pearl inset with silver, gold, diamonds and enamel depicting a woodland scene, with ivy and a rising sun. The piece is hallmarked and was made by Andreas Fischer, Vienna, Austria prior to 1922. Very little is known of Fischer though an exceptional hand mirror, also of enamel and mother of pearl, was sold by Tadema Gallery some years ago. The design of the lid would appear to be based on a celebrated choker plaque made by Lalique in around 1899. As close to that piece as you may ever get!
