A Ruskin set A E Jones silver sugar caster

Price: Sold

A really good, rare, early, arts and crafts silver A E Jones sugar caster set with four Ruskin stones. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1905.

I particularly like the large scale of this piece and its footed design with the jewel like setting of the Ruskin stones.  It is very similar to a design for a milk jug by Ashbee which probably inspired Jones.  Like most of these early Jones’ pieces it is has an authentic arts and crafts feel and quality to it.  Overall condition is very good.  There is a slight rubbing to the marks, particularly the lid’s part marks.  The setting for several of the Ruskin stones are a little misshapen.  Overall the piece presents very well.
