A set of four large Liberty & Co Cymric silver and enamel buttons

Price: Sold

For sale is this very rare, early, set of four Liberty & Co large silver  and enamel buttons.  The buttons depict a landscape scene of trees in silver with enamel highlights.  I have never seen this design before which is model 106 in the Liberty Silver Sketch book, page 54.   Each button is in excellent original condition.  Three are dated for 1901, one for 1900. All are 3 cm diameter.  I do not know who designed these.  The layout of the trees is very similar to enamel landscape designs by Fleetwood Varley so possibly Liberty were inspired that.

This button appears in the first Liberty illustrated Cymric catalogue dated c. 1900 page 101 (see images), where it is described as model: “No 10. Silver and enamel button. Price 5s, 6d each”
