A Jessie King and Fleetwood Varley enamel silver pendant

For sale is this beautiful Jessie King silver pendant with Fleetwood Varley central enamel.  The central enamel enhanced with classic Jessie King green enamel leaves or flowers.   The pendant with original small pearl drop. Two of the great designers of the arts and crafts period in one piece.  A real rarity.  The brooch is (typically) unmarked  but appears in the Liberty Jewellery sketch book model 9098, page 301.

Condition of the brooch is excellent and original.  The chain is modern.

Jessie Marion King (1873-1949) is a famous Glasgow school artist, illustrator and designer.  She designed for Liberty & Co from c 1904-6 and was responsible for many of their later Cymric range jewellery designs.

Charles Fleetwood Varley (1874-1959) was a metalworker, enameller and painter. Fleetwood Charles Varley commonly known as Fleetwood C. Varley was born in Chelsea, Middlesex the son of George Varley, artist and photographer.  He is most famous as an enameller, mainly of landscapes, working for both the Guild of Handicraft and Liberty’s.
