A silver and abalone arts and crafts pill box
Price: £650
For sale is this unmarked really good silver and abalone pill box. The box is set with a central abalone to the lid. The box sits on eight feet each with twisted wirework to the base.
The piece is in the style of John Paul Cooper who, early in his career, favoured octagonal boxes and occasionally used feet exactly as for this box. I hesitate to attribute to Cooper as the applied wirework to the base of the box is slightly thicker than Cooper’s typical work. The box will date to c 1905.
The box is in excellent original condition. The lid fits well, with strong hinge and good coloured abalone. A bit of a gem of a piece, especially if you collect pill boxes!
