A Charles Ashbee for the Guild of Handicraft silver mustard with agates

For sale is this Charles Ashbee for the Guild of Handicraft silver mustard, set with agate (carnelian) stones to the base.  A really beautiful rare piece that has that jewel like quality that Ashbee was so adept at creating.  The mustard is in excellent condition with probable old repair to one foot and a new replacement liner.  This mustard is fully hallmarked for London 1901

This mustard was well publicised during the Guild’s lifetime. An image of this mustard appears in a catalogue of the Guild c 1901 with original photo still in the Guild’s archive.  It also appears in Modern English Silverwork plate 27 and “Kunst und Handwerk”, Vol 58, issue 4, page 115, published in 1908 – see images.

This mustard featured in my recent selling Exhibition in October and associated catalogue of the Guild’s silver
