A gold, silver and pearl necklace by Liberty & Co

Price range: Sold

A wonderful Liberty silver and gold necklace, the design attributed to Bernard Cuzner.  The necklace chain is silver set with mother of pearl satin hearts with gold mounts and silver leaves. There is a satin grey pearl drop.  This necklace appears as model 1507 in the Liberty Jewellery sketch book.

I am confident in attributing the design to Bernard Cuzner, the Birmingham School of Art head of metalwork who designed much of Liberty’s silver after c. 1906 and, similarly, I think much of their jewellery.

The necklace condition is excellent.  There are slight imperfections to several of the mother of pearl inserts, visible under magnification only.  The silver and gold work is immaculate.  The pear drop may not be original.  There is the residue of a rubbed L&Co mark to the back of the main heart.
