A Kate Harris pair of large silver salts

Price range:  £1,250

A striking pair of large silver arts and crafts salts by Kate Harris. Hallmarked for Alston’s & Hallam, and dated London 1902.  Alston’s and Hallam’s were a leading retail jeweller silver shop trading from 69 Cornhill.  These salts would have been made by William Hutton & Sons.

These salts have all the characteristics of Kate Harris who designed for William Hutton & Sons and whose work is known to have been retailed under others sponsor mark.  Original Powell glass liners.

I have only seen one other pair to this design which were one of the first ever items I sold as a dealer some ten years.   A favourite of mine, that pair are in one of the world’s great private Kate Harris collections.
