A large pair arts and crafts silver and copper candlesticks
Price:£1,950
A rare pair of tall, heavy, silver and copper arts and crafts candlesticks. These are really a striking pair, with copper bodies enhanced with wire rims of silver and applied silver diamonds. The bases set with turquoise enamels. Each sits on four cylindrical feet with silver rim.
Frustratingly the candlesticks are unmarked and I have not been able to identify or even attribute the maker. They are in the style of A E Jones or John Paul Cooper. I believe these must be British, of gothic and arts and crafts influence.
Patina and condition is very good though note these are slightly crudely made in true arts and crafts tradition. There is one very small area of restoration to one enamel. The sconces unscrew as part of the whole construction of the candlesticks, which have rods running through their whole length connecting with a bolt to the base.
