A lidded silver dish with amber finial by Charles Ashbee
Price range: £5,000-10,000
An outstanding early bowl with lid and amber finial, by Charles Ashbee for the Guild of Handicraft. The highlight of the piece is the amber set finial. The lid is further enhanced with classic Guild silver beadwork. It is good gauge of silver, lovely “in the hand” and the piece is a good example of Ashbee’s clean lined modern silver-work.
Both bowl and lid are fully hallmarked for London 1899 with the Guild’s rare CRA (Charles Robert Ashbee) mark that was in use prior to December 1900 when the GofH Ltd mark was registered.
