A massive Adrian Hope silver bowl
Price: £4,950
For sale is this massive modern silver bowl by the highly regarded Scottish silversmith Adrian Hope. The bowl is hand raised silver in its purest form. The bowl sits on a small foot that is part of the original hand raising. Deep hand hammer marks are visible throughout the bowl and the rim has been left slightly wavy or mis-shapen, testimony to the silversmiths craft. The silver has been left very white with a slightly mat patina. The overall effect is highly modern and elegant, which for a bowl of this scale is quite something.
The bowl itself has a massive 36 cm diameter. Unlike much of the artistic silver I sell this is a very practical piece and in the best possible way! It can be filled with booze for punch or used as the ultimate champagne cooler. It will readily fit several bottles of champagne, and comfortably holds a magnum – see photos

The bowl is in excellent original condition. The bowl is assayed but not dated (Adrian Hope typically does not date assay his pieces). The bowl was however exhibited at Goldsmiths Fair in c 2010 from which it dates therefore, subsequently acquired by Payne & Sons of Oxford.
Adrian has got many pieces in public collections including: Royal Scottish Museums, City of Bristol Museum, City of Aberdeen Museum, City Of Birmingham Museum, and The Goldsmiths Company.
