A rare silver bowl, set with red stones by Arthur and Georgie Gaskin

Price range: £2,650

For sale is this beautiful silver bowl by Arthur and Georgie Gaskin.  It is hand raised with lovely hammered patina to the interior of the bowl. The bowl rim set with six red stones, probably agates.  Each setting with delicate wirework surround.

Pieces of holloware by the Gaskins are rare.  This piece is fully assayed and carries the Gaskins’ rare sponsor mark (partly rubbed).  A similar bowl was sold at Bonhams in 2003 (see link), dated 1904 and engraved as a christening bowl for their daughter Jocelyn.  The provenance of this piece is not known but likely it was a similar commission celebrating a birth or other family event.
