A French silver aesthetic vase by Alphonse Debain
For sale is this remarkable Alphonse Debain silver vase. Debain was one of France’s leading silversmiths around 1900 and executed art nouveau and aesthetic designs that were exhibited at the Paris Salon from c 1900-1912 (Duncan, The Paris Salons, Vol 5), including the 1900 Paris Exposition. This is a gem of a piece, a very good gauge of silver and yet with deep repousse design and chasing. The design shows the influence of both aesthetic and art nouveau movements.
