An Archibald Knox gold, opal and river pearl necklace
Price range: £3,250
A really stunning variant of this Archibald Knox gold necklace, this version set with opal “barrels”.
This is one of my favourite Knox designs. Its incredibly modern and whilst it reminds me of the African designs that inspired Mackintosh, I believe it’s inspiration is early Celtic symbolism. See “Archibald Knox”, 2nd Edition, page 251, by Stephen Martin for the same necklace set with turquoise. This is model 8009 in the Liberty jewellery sketch book in the Westminster Archives.
This version has original clasp and vintage chain extension. For an example of this necklace with citrines, see A1337.
