An arts and crafts gold moonstone pendant

Price range: £2,750

For sale is this gorgeous and very wearable gold arts and crafts pendant.  The design of a bunch of gold grapes, with three vine leaves held by vine tendrils is delicately made from worked gold sheet and gold wire. The centre set with a gold backed moonstone with matching moonstone drop.    The pendant is clearly from the arts and crafts period and entirely handmade, including the clasp.

The pendant is  not assayed but is of high carat gold and marked to the reverse with a punched engraved “H” within an oval. I have not been able to identify the maker but it is very much in the style of Josef Hodel and similar also to the later work of Dorrie Nossiter.

The condition is excellent. The moonstone drop appears to be of silver gilt surround and backed by a lower carat gold.  It is nevertheless a good match to the whole piece and clearly old.  It may or may not be original to the piece.  The moonstones, backed in gold,  are an excellent colour.
