An enamel, turquoise and gold pendant by Liberty & Co
Price range: Sold
A rare gold, turquoise and enamel pendant dating to c. 1905. This unusual design, reminiscent of Ashbee’s style for the Guild of Handicraft, is infact a Liberty piece and appears in the Liberty Jewellery sketch book number 1035. Based on the design I am confident in attributing it to A H Jones, a Birmingham School jeweller and silversmith who briefly partnered with Bernard Cuzner, another Liberty designer, 1902-4.
The condition is very good with original unrestored enamels. It has had a pin added at some point, now removed without damage. The top ring holding the chain is a modern copy of the original design. The chain illustrated is 9 carat gold and modern.
