An Evald Nielsen silver box set with baltic amber

A beautiful Evald Nielsen silver box set with baltic amber within a budding flower design.  The piece is hallmarked for Denmark, Copenhagen, 1914 with the EN makers mark and Evald Nielsen signature. The design is typical of Nielsen’s work which is usually seen only in his jewellery and flatware. A box with this design and set with jewel like amber is very special. It is a very good gauge of silver and has been velvet lined.

Evald Nielsen is one of Denmark’s most important silversmiths, a contemporary of Georg Jensen, he was leader of the Danish Goldsmiths Guild for over thirty years from 1918.
