An exceptional Meiji Japanese silver and cloisonne enamel vase

For sale is an exceptional and good sized silver meiji Japanese cloisonne enamel vase signed by one of the great cloisonne masters of the period,  Kawaguchi Bunzaemon.  The vase dates to his later period around 1910 and is decorated with vibrant enamel depicting Japanese woodcut style waves and seagulls.  It uses the baisse taille technique, where enamel is fired over engraved and repousse silver for heightened effect.

This masterpiece presents beautifully but is unfortunately damaged with some restoration, and is priced accordingly. Please contact me for further images.
