An exceptional Ramsden & Carr silver wine goblet with enamel
Price range: £3,250
One of the best Ramsden & Carr silver wine goblets I have seen, and a rare, if not unique, design. The stem is designed with upturned horseshoes for luck and hanging lamps, “lit” with red enamel for further symbolism of a bright future. The base with classic Ramsden and Carr “waves”.
The rim is chased “I WAS WROUGHT FOR XPOFER SWAINSON COWPER BY COMMAND OF T COWPER ESSEX 1906”.
Fully hallmarked for London 1905 this is quite early in Ramsden and Carr’s partnership. The base of the goblet also marked for Ramsden and Carr and with engraving “Ramsden & Carr made me”
The goblet is in excellent original condition, an unusually good gauge and with perfect enamels and crisp design and hallmarks.
