An outstanding Guild of Handicraft silver and enamel box

Price range: Sold

For sale is this outstanding Guild of Handicraft silver and enamel box with excellent galleon enamel. The enamel has a wonderful marbled green and pink background, into which the galleon has been subtly set with blue and white heavily foiled enamel. The enamel is in excellent and original condition.  Whilst not signed I am confident this enamel is by William Mark, an Australian, who joined the Guild in around 1900 along with Fleetwood Varley. Together they elevated the enamel work at the Guild to a very high level.   The interior is not lined. Fully hallmarked for London 1901.
