A rare example of the work of Nelson Dawson, one of the earliest designers of arts and crafts silver and founder of the Artificers Guild. Dated London 1903 The dish is inscribed “To my goddaughter Olivia Forbes from Ellen Terry, 11th June 1906”. Ellen Terry was the leading British actress of the period who through marriage to the artist George Watts and other relationships, including to Edward William Godwin, was at the heart of the aesthetic and artistic movements of the period.
