Silver, silver gilt and gem set brooch

Price range: Sold

A stunning brooch in the manner of Josef Hoffman and Koloman Moser for the Wiener Werkstatte. The brooch is hallmarked for Germany and the Czech town of Eger, then part of the Austro Hungarian empire. It is possibly made in Austro-Hungary and imported to Germany, though it might be a Pforzheim German piece. It is made of 900 parts silver and carries an unidentified maker’s mark “S.S”.  The design of the brooch is of a gem set flower growing out of a pot made of Lapis Lazuli. Very similar brooches by the Wiener Werkstatte to this type of design sell in excess of £200,000.
